IS YOUR WEBSITE LEGALLY COMPLIANT?

asks Claire Love-Jones at Local Web Solutions

Did you know that websites need to conform to certain laws?

There’s no need to panic, but if your business has a website, the Disability Discrimination Act requires it to achieve a minimum level of standards to make sure everyone can use it – even those with certain disabilities, like sight problems.

For example, a website should be constructed to allow users to increase the size of the text size on it, using their own PC. This process is called accessibility – and it’s much more user- friendly than having a fixed size text, which some people may find impossible to read. And, of course, you want everyone to be able to read and access the information on your website, so it benefits you, too.

If you’re a limited company bear in mind, too, that the Companies Act requires you to show your registered office details on a number of items - including your website. It’s easy to get a free check and ensure you are compliant – just contact us at Local Web Solutions on 01903 758868 or email claire@localwebsolutions.co.uk.
